Job Description:
Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest
Provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
Guide and assist children in the development of self help skills
Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
May plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
May supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
Continue education through workshops, in-house training and courses
Assist in the daily maintenance of the Centre
Job Description
Requirements:
Education: Completion of a two- to four-year college program in early childhood education or a bachelor's degree in child development is required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in early education is required.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECE) in Ontario (Early Childhood Educator Licence) is required. Child first aid and CPR Certificate and vulnerable sector screening are required.

Salary: $20.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
Important information: The position requires working on shifts of 9 hours per day which will be scheduled anywhere from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, including one unpaid 1-hour break. Flexibility is required since start and end times will meet classroom demands. The candidate will be responsible to work with children up to 6 years old.
