We are currently seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of: Auto Body Collision and Refinish Technician. This position is open to those legally authorized to work in Canada and qualified foreign nationals that have the experience and qualifications required for this opportunity.

THE JOB
Auto body collision and refinish technicians repair and restore damaged motor vehicle body parts and interior finishing; repaint body surfaces; repair and/or replace automotive glass; repair defective automobile body parts and damage to the bodies of newly assembled cars. They are responsible for repairing all assigned vehicles and restoring them to pre-accident conditions following industry standards and factory specifications.
Job Description
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Review damage report and estimate repair cost, and plan work to be performed.
Repair damaged vehicles using technical information sheets following APS (Advanced Process Solutions) following repair orders (RO).
Makes “repair or replace” decisions concerning safety, costs, and cycle time.
Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment and trim to gain access to the vehicle and fenders.
Repair and replace front-end components, body components, doors and frames and underbody components.
Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers.
Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams.
Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place.
Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment.
File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools.
Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting.
Mix, paint, blend and match colours.
Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns.
Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs.
Perform airbag replacement and some mechanical work.
Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation.
Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling.
Meets or exceeds CARSTAR’s requirements for tech efficiency, cycle time (to keep vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery) and return rate.
Utilize all required safety equipment, follow proper repair procedures, and adhere to all hazardous waste disposal requirements.
Keeps personal work area organized and clean, returns tools and maintains parts/materials carts in an organized manner.
Follow CARSTAR’s quality control processes and inspections.
Perform assigned duties safely and responsibly, not exposing her or himself or other employees to unnecessary risk of injury.
Attend daily release meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
2-5 years of auto body collision repair experience required.
Red Seal License as an Auto Body Collision Repair Technician preferred.
I-CAR certification preferred.
History of working independently and in a team environment.
Highly organized, able to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
Own tools prederred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to complete or inspect repairs.
Carry and lift heavy objects (up to 80lbs).
Manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate equipment.
Standing, sitting, walking.
Performing repetitive motions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to:
Paint, fumes and particles.
Dirt / Dust.
Chemicals / Toxins.
Varying heat / cold.
Intermittent noise.
