Salary - $18.24 to $23.54 / Hour (To be negotiated)

Maple Tree Preschool is a premier non-profit early childcare and education center in Sudbury. We provide a positive learning environment for all of the children in our care. We strive to create an interactive and educational environment for our children while maintaining a high code of Ethics and following all guidelines outlined in the Childcare and Early Years Act and licensing policies. We are looking for an Early Childcare Educator to join our team.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
• Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers.
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest.
• Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
• Provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
• Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties.
• Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
• Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
• Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.
• Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.

Job Requirements (Skills, Qualifications & Experience):
• Education – Post Secondary Degree / Diploma.
• Certification - Early Childhood Education Diploma or Equivalent
• First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
• Languages Knowledge– Proficiency in English
• Experience - 1 year to less than 2 years
• Personal suitability - Punctuality, Dependability, Efficient interpersonal skills, Excellent written communication, Flexibility, Interpersonal awareness, Judgement, Reliability, Team player, Values and ethics
• Security - Criminal record check, Vulnerable sector check
• Valid driver's Licence
• First Aid & CPR
• Criminal Reference Check with vulnerable sector screening
• All immunization up to date.
