Job Description:
Important note: Treating animals with respect and dignity throughout their lives in the farm is mandatory.
• Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers
• Supervise and oversee turkey-related programs
• Maintain quality control and production records
• Ensure that the safety of the turkey operations and bio-security procedures are followed
• Monitoring animal health
• Maintain work records and logs
• Train and orient staff
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• Perform general farm duties
Requirements:
- Education: Some secondary school is required
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience as a general farm worker is required. If the candidate does not have a minimum of 3 years of experience, then a post-secondary certificate is required.
-Farm supervisory experience is an asset
-Driver’s license is required to move from one farm site to another
-Technical knowledge of poultry production is an asset but not a requirement
-Must be able to work with Turkeys
-Must not have any type of allergies to the materials used within and around the bird barns/farms
e.g., straw and woodchip products used on the barns floor for bedding. Turkey feathers, and turkey faeces/acidic odours.
-Must be able to withstand the extreme Canadian winter weather conditions since the job involves some outside work in all seasons.

Work site environment: Fast-paced environment, confined spaces, wet/damp, noisy, odours, dusty, hot, outdoors.
Ability to Supervise: 2-3 general farm workers
Salary: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, 48.5 – 54.5 hours per week.
Benefits: Performance bonus, coveralls and protective equipment will be provided, staff accommodation available at a discounted rate (on the farm). Transportation will be provided to and from the job site(s) – (vehicle supplied by the employer)
Important Information: The chosen candidate will work 6 days a week. The work schedule will be from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. On weekends there are two shifts, one from 8 am to 11 am and a second one from 4 pm to 7 pm. The schedule includes 30 minutes for unpaid lunchtime and 2 breaks of 15 minutes each which are paid. Flexibility on schedule is required as night shifts may occasionally be required. On-call is required. The employee will have 1 day off on a rotational basis, or as discussed according to the needs of the farm.
** If the worker works 7 days a week, then in the next week the worker will only work 5 days a week.
