Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate orally in English is required
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required
- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook in an established restaurant is required
- Experience of working in a Japanese restaurant and/or knowledge on Japanese cuisine is an asset
Job duties:
- Prepare, cook, and present hot and cold appetizers such as Tofu Salad and Teba Gyoza (deep-fried chicken dumplings);
- Grill Yakitori (chicken skewers), vegetables, and fish over a charcoal fire and present them;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style noodle dishes;
- Prepare and present Sashimi and Sushi;
- Schedule kitchen staff;
- Train kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
- Supervise kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
- Clean and inspect kitchen and work areas;
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment;
- Order food, ingredients, supplies and equipment;
- Suggest/plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
