Hollyburn is seeking a Senior
Behaviour Support Worker (Autism) to provide support care, and who can act as a
mentor in supporting the personal growth for our clients with special needs and
Autism Spectrum Disorder. This position requires an enthusiastic,

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include maintaining a safe
and healthy environment in the therapeutic residential program; building
positive working relationships with youth, family, and professionals involved
in the care team; assisting/teaching youth life skills as required;
implementing behavioural support plans and safety plans; facilitating
recreational and/or educational activities; attending school meetings and case
conferences when required; encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards
and setting and maintaining appropriate limits; collaborating with the clinical
team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans; engaging in
frequent interaction with clients using appropriate means of communication.
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrable experience dealing
with children/youth with severe behavioural challenges, developmental
disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as emergency response skills
and good decision-making when dealing with safety issues and manic/aggressive
episodes as required. Displaying initiative, creativity and excellent
organizational skills; and the ability to multi-task, balancing client needs
with administrative duties of the position.
The successful candidate must be able to work with clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and have knowledge and understanding of risk assessments and crisis management. Experience in creating social stories, visual aids, sensory integration and report writing is required for this position. The incumbent will have knowledge of the behaviours associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as experience with supportive strategies, needs and risk assessment. Must be fluent in verbal and written English.
Qualifications
Completion of at least a post-secondary degree or diploma in ECE, ABA, Child Psychology or related field and/or equivalent experience working with children/youth with severe behavioural challenges, developmental disabilities and autism. At least one year's experience working with children/youth with aggressive behaviours and mental health issues is required, along with at least one year's experience working in a residential environment. Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license. Current First Aid/CPR certification and non-violent crisis intervention certificates is an asset. Must be able to pass a Criminal Records Check.
Salary and Benefits
The position pays $22.03 per hour, based on a 40 hour work week. Benefits include employer-paid BC Medical, extended health, dental, vision care, life insurance, wellness days and sick leave. A Registered Retirement Savings Plan is also available, along with 10 days' vacation per year.
